Ocean Springs District Adopts Hosted Document Management

Ocean Springs School District in Mississippi is moving its data center to a hosted environment. The district recently announced that it's adopted the ImageNow hosted enterprise document management system from Perceptive Software in an effort to bolster its disaster recovery plan.

ImageNow is a document management, imaging, and workflow software suite targeted toward educational institutions. It's available in both locally deployed and hosted versions. Ocean Springs said it chose the hosted option to help protect data in the event of a natural disaster. The district is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

"Ocean Springs School District is acutely aware of the threat that lost data can present in the case of a natural disaster," said Donna Nester, Ocean Springs School District business manager, in a statement released last week. "The hosted option with ImageNow was a perfect fit for our disaster recovery and preparedness plan. We were impressed with Perceptive Software's LearnMode integration technology. ImageNow won't require any programming changes to configure with our existing software applications and that is an incredible benefit to the district as we begin this project."

The deployment will initially happen in the district's purchasing and accounts payable departments, where ImageNow will be integrated with the district's existing administrative systems. It will later be deployed in the district's human resources and payroll departments, as well as other business groups.

Ocean Springs School District serves about 5,600 students in seven schools.
