Missouri School District Goes High Tech with Emergency Planning
The Hannibal School District in Missouri is the latest to take advantage of an all-hazards preparedness program offered free to public and private schools in the state by the Missouri Office of Homeland Security.
Emergency Response Information Plan (ERIP), provided by SafePlans, is a Web-based application that enables schools and other types of facilities to develop customized, National Incident Management System-compliant all-hazards emergency plans. Once developed online, the plans are converted into PDF files to be printed or saved on hard drives and stored on a secure server; where they can be viewed through a browser by authorized people.
Among the information compiled into the plan are photos, schematics, floor plans, maps, and utility shutoff details to help direct emergency personnel.
ERIP also encompasses Web-based training on response, management, and recovery procedures.
