Angel Adopts IMS Common Cartridge in LMS

Angel Learning this week announced new support for the IMS Global Learning Consortium's Common Cartridge standard in its learning management system, Angel LMS. The standard, developed through IMS GLC's Common Cartridge Alliance, is an open standard for content sharing. Angel last year contributed intellectual property for its development.

Common Cartridge is an open standard designed to make a wider range of content available through educational tools like learning management systems, allowing content to be mixed and matched and to reduce production and testing costs associated with content development and deployment. Participants in the alliance include Angel, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Wimba, Cisco, Jenzabar, and several other vendors. (See link below for a complete list.)

Angel is also supporting the Question Test Interoperability (QTI) 2.1 assessment standard and the ACCLIP accessibility standard in the current version of its LMS. The Angel LMS assessment engine is built on QTI 2.1 for its formative and summative assessments.
