Apple Updates Xcode, X11

11.02.2006—Apple yesterday released updates for its X11 and Xcode software. X11 is Apple’s implementation of the X Window System. Based on the open-source XFree86 Project, it allows those familiar with Unix to run X11R6.6 applications concurrent with standard Mac OS X applications. Apple’s X11 includes the full distribution of XFree86 4.4 and is fully integrated with Mac OS X, including Aqua interface elements and Dock interaction, and Apple’s Quartz graphics system, including OpenGL rendering.

The latest release, version 1.1.2, adds two new features: GLX stereo visuals and offscreen rendering to GLX Pbuffers and Pixmaps. Se the link below for further information.

Apple’s Xcode is a suite of tools specifically for Mac OS X developers, offering support for 64-bit development, gcc 4.0 compiling, distributed building and support for a variety of programming languages. The new version 2.4.1 ads stability and security fixes, an update to CHUD (to 4.4.3) and updates to the Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4 SDKs. The update is free.
