Calgary BoE Selects Desire2Learn to Replace LMS

This fall, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) will replace its current learning management system with the Desire2Learn (www.desire2learn.com) Learning Platform, which is a complete Web-based suite of easy-to-use teaching and learning tools for course development, delivery, assessment, communication, and learning management that deliver flexible, accredited inclass and online education to K- 12 students. The agreement also provides teacher and staff online professional development via the company’s e-PD program,as well as gives CBE access to Desire2Learn’s standards-based Learning Object Repository, which enables the storing, sharing, and tracking of learning objects. The estimated 200,000 to 400,000 CBE students and teachers expected to use the Desire2Learn Learning Platform will make this one of the largest K-12 eLearning initiatives in North America.
