Making a Difference One Student at a Time

Continued Success

Due to the overwhelming success of the eMINTS program, both Peabody and Lafayette elementary schools were recognized by our state board of education during the 2002-2003 school year. In addition, Microsoft gave Peabody Elementary School a Circle of Excellence award for using classroom technology in a meaningful way and impacting student achievement in a positive manner. Peabody Elementary School, Ms. Reed, and Ms. Spann also continue to be recognized at the district, city, state, and federal levels.

Because of the success at these two schools, the district decided to expand the eMINTS program in the 2002-2003 school year to 18 additional classrooms; students in these classrooms experienced similar levels of success. Currently, the district has expanded the eMINTS program to 63 classrooms, three middle schools, and one high school. The children in these classrooms are experiencing success as evidenced by formal and informal measures. Several of our eMINTS classrooms, especially at Peabody, are being funded through corporate sponsors and state grants. We also received a magnet school initiative grant this year that will support us in expanding the eMINTS program to 150 classrooms at the elementary level over a three-year period.

We are making a difference, one student at a time, one teacher at a time, one parent at a time, one classroom at a time, one school at a time, one day at a time. The program works for our students, and they are achieving.
